Our veterans are heroes, but they also need our support.

Veterans are more likely to experience mental health conditions than the general population. Studies estimate that around one in four veterans will meet the diagnostic criteria for a mental health issue, with some veterans struggling with multiple conditions. Here are some of the most common mental health struggles among veterans:

 * Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
 * Depression
 * Anxiety
 * Substance use disorder

These conditions can be caused by a variety of factors experienced during military service, including combat exposure, military sexual trauma, and the stress of deployment. If you are a veteran experiencing mental health struggles, there are resources available to help. You can reach out to the Veterans Crisis Line or mental health services offered by the VA.

It's absolutely true that reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. There are many people who care about you and want to see you well. If you're struggling, reaching out for support is the bravest step you can take toward feeling better. Remember, you don't have to go through this alone.

There are many resources available, including the Veterans Crisis Line (1-800-273-8255, press 1) which provides confidential support 24/7. You don't have to go through this alone.
